ART-FACTS
Three things you should consider when buying a piece of art for your home.
1.) SIZE, SHAPE and LOCATION:
One of the most important ingredients of decorating your home is to get a feel for the space you have. Consider where the piece will go and how much room you have to work with. You don't want something that will be too intrusive on the current setting. Additionally, the overall shape of the piece will dictate the overall affect of its viewing. Different shapes affect us in different ways. Both the positive space of the object and the negative space around it leads to our overall enjoyment or dislike of any particular piece of art or antique.
2.) Color Combination:
Obviously, color combination plays a significant role in determining if something will look good or not. Did you ever notice that something will look good when you see it in a particular place but if you see that same thing somewhere else it will look completely different. This could be due largely to the color and or colors of the piece and the color of its surrounding environment. Colors often spark a feeling in us and are often described as being warm or cool or bright, etc. Think of what mood you would like to create and keep it in mind when searching out that perfect piece.
3.) Enjoyment Factor:
Lastly and probably most important is the personal satisfaction and enjoyment one gets from any particular piece of art and or antique. It can not be stressed enough that when buying something like a piece of art one should truly be buying something that they love. Many people buy things for the wrong reasons, but you can never go wrong if you are buying something you truly love. Remember, if it moves you, it is a part of you and that is art.
